The Love Island 2022 web: How the contestants secretly knew each other before the show

Each year, the producers of Love Island seem to shy less and less away from the pool of influencers and young people they have on their radar. A lot of the time, the rumoured cast lists are quite spot on, and Islanders already have connections to one another, and are mates with ex-Islanders. The cast of 2022 have created something of a Love Island web with how well connected they are.

From Islanders matching on dating apps, being in relationships before, and even spending Christmas with cast members from previous seasons – they have definitely been keeping it close this year.

Here is the official Love Island web of 2022, connecting all the Islanders who knew each other before the show, and are already mates with cast members from previous seasons. Is nothing sacred anymore?

Gemma Owen and Jacques O’Neill

Let’s get the obvious one out of the way first, Gemma and Jacques very much knew one another before the show began. When Jacques entered the villa, Gemma told the girls “oh my god, that’s my ex” but proclaimed she had no intention of getting back with him. On the show, Gemma said she and Jacques split up around a year and a half ago, with Jacques adding they were together for around eight months. Jacques was 20 when he dated a 16-year-old Gemma.

It also looks as though Jacques knew Davide before they entered the villa. Screenshots have surfaced of the two of them chatting like mates on Instagram, over a year before the show.

The first comment comes from Jacques, who wrote: “You boys need to start training.” In response, Davide said: “More gym and less parties I guess.” Jacques again replied: “More gym keep the amount of parties the same.” People have now jumped into the comments section, saying the boys “deserve Oscars” for pretending not to know one another, whilst another added: “So we just going to act like you two weren’t boys 73 weeks ago”. Suspicious.

Gemma Owen and Billy Brown

At this point, I’m starting to wonder who doesn’t know Gemma Owen. As Billy walked into Casa Amor, she told the girls she already knew Billy and later shared that his best friend is one of her best friends too. They follow each other on Instagram, too.

Tasha Ghouri and Charlie Radnedge

Tasha confessed she already had connections with Charlie, before he was a bombshell on the show. In the dressing room, she announced to her fellow Islanders: “Girls, I recognise Charlie from Hinge,” and Indiyah Polack shouted back, “No way!”

Andrew Le Page and Cheyanne Kerr

Andrew already had links to Casa Amor bombshell, Cheyanne, before the villa. Andrew works in real estate in Dubai, and liked not one, but SEVEN of Cheyanne’s pictures on Instagram when she was in Dubai too. He follows Cheyanne on Insta, but she doesn’t follow him back.

Davide Sanclimenti and Cheyanne Kerr

Cheyanne is clearly a very well connected woman – because it looks like she knew Davide before Love Island, too. Davide already followed Cheyanne on Instagram and has liked loads of her pictures. Notably, Davide liked a photo of Cheyanne showing her on a night out in Manchester in March – which is where Davide is living. Interesting!

Antigoni Buxton and Jack Fowler

As soon as she walked into the villa, it was revealed Antigoni’s ex was 2018 Islander, Jack Fowler. What’s more, the pair were in a music video together.

Last year, three years after he was in the villa himself, Jack Fowler briefly made some music. One of his songs is called “Foolish” and features Tom Zanetti. The premise of the music video is pretty simple: It’s a pool party. Antigoni can be seen cosying up and dancing around the pool in a bikini with Jack, and later on is dancing inside the house in a pink co-ord.

Antigoni Buxton and Joanna Chimonides

Antigoni is extremely well connected, and is hanging out with celebs in loads of her Instagram pictures. And over on her TikTok, she’s shared a video of her at a JD party, where she’s hanging out with Joanna from 2019!!

Davide Sanclimenti and Jamie Clayton

Davide is clearly one well connected man, as he has a “secret” connection to an ex-Islander, who is cheering him on at home. Remember Jamie Clayton who was briefly on the winter version of the show? According to The Sun, he and Davide met on the Manchester club scene not long after Jamie was dumped from the 2020 series.

The pair are now really good mates, spent Christmas together, and there are photos of them hanging out on Instagram. Jamie told The Scottish Sun: “Davide’s a really, really nice and genuine guy. He’d do anything for his mates. He’s part of my ‘Italian boys’ group of friends.

“We’d go out runs and walks during lockdown. And I even spent Christmas Day with Davide. I couldn’t get back up to Scotland so him and the boys had me round for Christmas. He phoned me the day before he was flying out for the show and that’s the last I’ve heard from him. I told him good luck and I’ll see him when he’s back.”

Remi Lambert and Jack Fincham

Dumped Islander Remi already knew 2018 winner, Jack Fincham. There are a whole bunch of photos on Remi’s Instagram of them at a shoot together and Jack has commented “My guy”.

Afia Tonkmor and Montana Brown

Bombshell Afia already knew 2017 contestant, Montana Brown. There’s a picture on Afia’s Instagram of the pair of them together. Montana owns a swimwear brand, called Swim Society, and in the slide show of pictures it looks as though Afia may have modelled for the brand.
