Okay, so how the hell *do* you get an invite to the Met Gala?
1. Be really famous
It’s the most exclusive celebrity event of the year, but just how do you earn a ticket to the Met Gala?
Every year, the usual Hollywood-based suspects turn up: Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz, Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, Kylie and Kendall Jenner… but there’s always a handful of rogue micro-influencers stumbling onto the red carpet as well. Like, what did Emma Chamberlain do to get an invite every single year?
Well, it turns out there are a number of ways to get a foot in the door. From donating lots of money to being worth lots of money, here’s everything you can do to guarantee a 2023 Met Gala invitation:
1. Be really famous

The most obvious way to get an invite – and sadly the most unattainable – is to be really, really famous. Literally in the same league as Beyoncé, Nicki Minaj, the Kardashians and the entire Bridgerton cast. But, don’t worry. If you’re not already disgustingly well-known, there are lots of other near-impossible ways to grab a ticket!!
2. Donate loads of money

Most guests donate to the Museum of Metropolitan Art (MoMA) in New York, where the yearly event is held. They either donate as individuals, or as part of fashion houses, who purchase tables at the Met. If you have a spare £75,000 lying around, that’d be ideal.
3. Go as a plus one

Obviously, if you can’t BE really famous, you could always DATE someone really famous. I think Paul Mescal, Justin Bieber, Stormzy and Phoebe Dynevor are taken – but if you don’t ask, you don’t get.
Also – being the kid of someone really famous helps, too.
4. Work for a fashion magazine
The staff of at least one huge fashion magazine gets to go every year – but you could always join a US media company and try to get in as a presenter?
5. Perform at the Met

This one only counts if you’re actually musically talented. Trust me, sneaking in and playing Three Blind Mice on the recorder for several hundred celebrities is a sure-fire way to get yourself banned.
6. Sponsor the Gala (yes, it’s different from a donation)
Certain companies (like Amazon) sponsor the Gala every year – and their highest-performing staff members are usually invited to celebrate. Brb, just tweaking my cover letter.
7. Cut your losses and just buy a ticket

Listen, you’ll have to take out a massive loan, or use that money you were saving to buy a house, or get your grandparents to hand over your inheritance early. But it’ll be so worth it, right? Tickets cost upwards of £25,000, and you may have to beg Anna Wintour herself.
