If you loved Ginny and Georgia you should binge watch these 11 shows next

Is there anything worse than finishing what has become your go-to easy watch binge series on Netflix? That awful feeling is probably what you’ve got if you’ve just come to the end of Ginny and Georgia. But, there are plenty of other series like it which will fill the drama-needing, character-obsessing sized hole Ginny and Georgia has left in your life.

Since the show was released, you’ve definitely imagined what it would be like to be besties with Max or married to Zion or Marcus, woken up in hot sweats as you remember Hunter tap dancing and had nothing but respect for Georgia despite her questionable and criminal life choices.

So now that Netflix has confirmed a second season – here are 11 series which are like Ginny and Georgia, which you should definitely watch next whilst you wait. You’re welcome.

Gilmore Girls

As Georgia says herself, her and Ginny are “like the Gilmore Girls, but with bigger boobs”. Gilmore Girls is another series about a mother and daughter duo. Similarly to Ginny and Georgia, it also follows a young mother and her teenage daughter settling into life in a quirky new town – and the relationship dynamic can be strained at times.

Firefly Lane

Firefly Lane is an ode to female friendships. It follows two girls, Kate and Tully, who meet when they live opposite each other. They should be polar opposites, but they become best friends and grow through life and their careers together. The friendship has been turbulent to say the least – with babies, marriages, divorces, flings and fallouts all along the way – but somehow, they always seem to have each other’s backs and come out stronger.

Good Girls

The plot lines in Good Girls might not be entirely believable, but that’s what makes it a great watch. The synopsis says: “Three suburban moms orchestrate a local grocery store heist to escape financial ruin and establish independence – together.” Sounds a bit like three Georgias all in one place.

All The Bright Places

Ok, so this is actually a film. But if you want more Marcus (of course you do), this is where to go. Felix Mallard, who plays Marcus in Ginny and Georgia, is cast as a school bully in All The Bright Places, a romantic drama about two people who struggle with the emotional and physical scars of their past.

Dead To Me

Dead To Me is a dark comedy which follows the lives of Jen and Judy. You’d think the pair of them would hate each other – Jen is deadpan and harsh, whilst Judy is soft and caring, but somehow they’re besties. They bond during grief therapy, and then a lot of dark and twisted things happen in their lives together. There are two seasons on Netflix right now, and a third and final season has been confirmed.

Jane The Virgin

Jane The Virgin is a comedy-drama following a chaste young woman who is accidentally impregnated via artificial insemination as she struggles to inform her devoutly religious family. Ah, more family drama.

Never Have I Ever

Never Have I Ever is basically all about a bunch of thirsty teens as they desperately try to grow up fast, seem cool and have sex. The show follows Devi, who is struggling with a recent trauma, and her friends. It was called Netflix’s “best teen comedy series to date” and I can guarantee you will fall in love with Paxton in this just like you did with Marcus in Ginny and Georgia.

On My Block

If you love watching savvy teens at high school, much like those in Ginny and Georgia, you’ll love On My Block. This series is a coming-of-age story all about how lifelong friendships can be tested through the troubles of simply growing up.

Insatiable

Insatiable is all about a girl called Patty. For years Patty was bullied and ignored because of her weight. But now she is seeking revenge against those who ever made her feel bad about herself through fat-shaming. She turns to beauty pageants, with the help of a disgraced coach.

Teenage Bounty Hunters

Teenage Bounty Hunters is about twin sisters Blair and Sterling who balance teen life at an elite Southern high school with an unlikely new career as bounty hunters. Just like Ginny and Georgia, this series has a fun mix of high school teen dramas and woes as well as a dash of crime as the girls go after wanted fugitives. There’s one season on Netflix, and then it was sadly cancelled.

Greenhouse Academy

Greenhouse Academy is about students at a southern California boarding school who must work together to conquer challenges after uncovering an evil plot. When teen siblings Hayley and Alex enter the elite boarding school, they find rivalry, romance and a mystery related to the recent loss of their mom.
