Love Island is looking for ‘hot and brainy’ contestants for the next series

Right, where do I apply then?

The bosses of Love Island are reportedly looking for contestants that have “brains as well as brawn” for the upcoming series. The producers reportedly want future contestants to follow in the footsteps of Dr Alex’s success and would like to include a key worker in their lineup.

A source told The Sun Love Island has received over 100,000 applications but they are looking for people with a story to tell.

They said: “The team have had over 100,000 applications and have been looking for talent with a bit of edge.

“Some of the best contestants over the years have been those who don’t just want to be famous – those with some real ambition, a solid career and a story to tell, especially of the key worker variety.”

Though they are keen to find brainy contestants, it is still unclear if Love Island will actually go ahead this year. A Chief Executive at ITV, Carolyn McCall, recently said she wasn’t 100 per cent sure the show would air this summer, but they are looking at all the options.

She said: “We will want to put Love Island on air because it’s been off air for a while. We didn’t do it last summer.

“We are looking at all our options at the moment. The pandemic makes it hard.”

The upcoming series is thought to take place in July or August if it does go ahead and may even be filmed in Devon or Cornwall, rather than sunny Mallorca or South Africa.

A source told The Sun producers were even considering Barry Island, where Gavin and Stacey was filmed, as a potential Love Island location. Doesn’t really have the same vibe though.
