Sally Rooney’s new book has been announced and it’s coming out this year

Although I’m sorry to say the main character isn’t a chain this time

Sally Rooney’s new novel has been announced, and it’s coming out this year.

The Normal People author will be releasing Beautiful World, Where Are You on 7th September.

Like Conversations With Friends, its plot will feature four interlinked people.

An announcement by publisher Faber Books read: “Alice, Felix, Eileen and Simon are still young – but life is catching up with them. They desire each other, they delude each other, they get together, they break apart. Will they find a way to believe in a beautiful world?”

It’ll be her third novel, after Normal People and Conversations With Friends. Rooney had previously teased she might give up there, telling the Irish Independent: “Maybe I am one of those people who writes two novels in their 20s then never writes anything else again.”

Following the lockdown success of the Normal People TV adaptation – in no small part thanks to Connell’s chain – Conversations with Friends is also being made into a series.

However, the 12-part series currently has no release date.
