Inside Shea and Syd McGee from Dream Home Makeover’s incredible Utah house

Netflix has just released a new dreamy home renovations show, called Dream Home Makeover. The show follows Shea and Syd McGee, the couple behind interior design company Studio McGee. As well as following the projects Shea and Syd McGee do as part of their work for clients, the show also shows us inside their house.

The show will give you all kinds of home envy – especially over Syd and Shea McGee themselves, who are shown renovating their amazing Utah home. They bought land in Lehi, Utah, in a secluded cul-de-sac of developments which are all away from the main city. Since then they’ve been building the home from the ground up, with Shea designing the entire thing of course.

Syd and Shea McGee have done a full tour of their incredible house on YouTube, which shows way more than the Netflix series does. Prepare to feel insane amounts of jealousy as you watch.

Shea explains the location of the house and what choices they made for the outside of the home.

Then it’s onto the entry and office

In another upload, Shea guides us around the entry and office space in the house. It definitely sticks to their “dark but light” feel they mention during the show.

Then we’re shown around the kitchen

The kitchen in this house can only be described as the kitchen of dreams. Shea says it’s her favourite room to design and it sets the tone for the rest of the rooms in the house.

The Shea and Syd McGee house tour then shows us around the dining room

Arguably not the most interesting room in the house, but it’s still very pretty. Shea explains that the house doesn’t have a separate kitchen and dining space, the rooms are open-plan and blend from one to the other.

The Great Room

The focal point of the McGee house is the great room – their living room. The kitchen, dining and great room are all open plan together and it’s where the family spend the most of their time.

The master bedroom and bathroom

The master bedroom and master bathroom tours are split across two YouTube videos on the McGee channel. The rustic, light style continues – including their huge grey headboard and free standing bath tub.

Wren’s room

If you thought the interior design may have been toned down for their daughter’s rooms, think again. Eldest daughter Wren’s room literally looks like the inside of a dolls’ house. And she has her own en-suite, of course.

Ivy’s room

Up next is youngest daughter Ivy’s room. Ivy’s bedroom has subtle hints of pink and she also has her own bathroom.

The Shea and Syd house tour ends in the backyard of their home

Finally we see the McGee family backyard, patio and outdoor living space. They have loads of outdoor seating, a playing frame for the girls, a plants and gardening area, loads of grass space, a huge bbq and a sunken trampoline.
