Hayden Panettiere’s friend reveals sad plans she had with young daughter before her death
Kaya is only 11
One of Hayden Panettiere’s friends has spoken out after her death and revealed the heartbreaking plans she had with her young daughter.
The actress died on Sunday after suffering a cardiac arrest. Authorities were called to a property in South Carolina following a 911 call about an unresponsive female, and Panettiere was sadly pronounced dead at the scene, the Greenville Police Department told NBC News.
In a statement, the Greenville County Coroner’s Office has since confirmed that first responders “located a female in cardiac arrest” and “initiated advanced cardiac life support measures,” but “resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful”. Coroner Mike Ellis said there were “no signs of trauma”.
Panettiere leaves behind 11-year-old daughter Kaya Evdokia Klitschko, who lives in Ukraine with her father, world heavyweight boxing champion Wladimir Klitschko. Hayden gave up custody while battling addiction issues, but they remained close.
The actress’ hairstylist and friend Erick Orellana told Page Six she was due to go and visit Kaya in Ukraine for the first time in months when she passed away.

“I last saw her a few months ago. She was talking about how she wanted to take a vacation, and that she wanted to go and see her daughter. Her daughter was always her absolute priority. She loved her so much,” she said.
“Her daughter was the absolute light of her life. She lit up when she spoke about her. Everything she did revolved around her. I can’t imagine that this is anything but accidental because she just loved her daughter and would never have left her.”
Orellana added that Panettiere was “super happy” leading up to her death and “so positive”. She said: “She had really good friends here in LA. It was a small group of people, but they were also supportive of her. And she loved spending time with them.”
On Jay Shetty’s On Purpose podcast in May, Panettiere said she travelled to Ukraine to see her daughter as much as she could. “I do spend a lot of time on FaceTime with her, but we talk about really deep things,” she said.
She added that giving up custody was “incredibly difficult” and said: “The idea that anybody would think I would just give away my child and be OK with it is heartbreaking. Couldn’t be further from the truth.
“The fact that my child wasn’t going to be with me all day, every day was… you can’t put words to it. It’s just a really intense feeling or multiple feelings really layered together.”
