Hayden Panettiere’s health issues made it ‘hard to move legs’ before death, says close friend

She had to use crutches to walk

Before her sudden passing last week Sunday, a close friend of Hayden Panettiere claims she struggled from health issues and pain so intense it affected her mobility months before her passing.

Actress and singer Hayden Panettiere tragically passed away on 16th August, as revealed by a statement provided by her father. The 36-year-old was known for many iconic roles, including leading characters in Heroes, Scream, Ice Princess and Bring It On.

Erick Orellana, a hairdresser who worked with Hayden on the set of Nashville and grew a relationship with the actress, revealed she was struggling with severe pain in the early months of this year in a statement to Page Six.

“I know she suffered earlier this year with her back,” he said.  “At one point, it was even hard for her to move her legs.”

There are several paparazzi pictures of Hayden at the time, using a pair of crutches and getting support from an airport employee.

Erick claimed Hayden was “starting to be on the mend”, as far as he knew.

Another source told Page Six that Hayden had other health issues, including tiredness and anxiety. The actress had opened up about her mental health publicly several times, including her battle with postpartum depression.

“Earlier this year, she did seem a little tired at times. But she was a night owl, and… she has a lot on her plate,” the source claimed.

They also noted she “suffered from anxiety at times” and “occasionally [took] medication for that.”

“And every so often that could impact her speech,” they added.

Hayden had opened up about the effects of grief in her life after the heartbreaking early passing of her brother, James.

“No matter how many times I talk about it and how much time passes, that is just a grief and a trauma that just evolves, but time does not heal it,” she said in an interview with ABC News back in May.
