A nosy look inside the UK’s most luxurious (and expensive) uni student accommodation

Unfortunately, some cost over a grand per week

When most of us think of student accommodation, we picture a shoebox-sized dwelling with a suspiciously stained mattress, an inexplicably wobbly desk and a communal kitchen that poses a health risk. But if you happen to have a few extra thousand pounds lying around, you could live in plushy halls with perks like cardio studios, cinema rooms and unlimited coffee.

Here’s a very nosy look inside some of the UK’s most expensive and luxurious university student accommodation.

Manchester, £410 per week

Fusion Students runs halls with “all-inclusive student living”. At their site in the Deansgate area of Manchester, you get free laundry, a cardio studio and a roof terrace. The different studio apartments will cost you in the realm of £400 per week, though.

Guildford, £445 per week

Uni Life’s Riverside House is down the road from the University of Surrey. Students get unlimited hot drinks, use of games consoles and a karaoke machine, a £100 laundry card and some very aesthetic views of the river.

For those of us not posh enough to know our way around Surrey, Egham is the town just beyond Heathrow Airport that contains Royal Holloway University. Prestige Student Living has a Penthouse Studio in its Straits Garden hall that will set you back £23,919 per year. The room is 25m², and doesn’t come with your own outside space or anything. You can use the on-site gym and snooker table.

Edinburgh, £1,243 per week

Vita Students has halls in many big UK uni cities, with many rooms costing more than £600 per week. The New Waverly halls in Edinburgh are on a whole other level, though. Students get perks such as unlimited tea and coffee, a cinema room, breakfast on weekdays and a pickup from the airport.

The plushiest pad costs a jarring £1,243 per week (so, £64,636 for a full year). This “room” consists of three bedrooms, three bathrooms, a washing machine and a “large fridge”.

London, £3,850 per week

No, that’s not a typo. The Lincoln’s Inn Collection student accom block in London features two flats that cost £3,850 per week. That would amount to £200,200 for a full year. Other spaces on the same site seem to have been listed at £5,600 per week in the past. Really.

@studentluxe

Are you a student looking for luxury accommodation? Well… You’re in the right place✨ Welcome to Lincoln’s Inn🏡😍 #luxury #apartment #students #viral #xycba #fyppp #studentluxe

The site is in a super central location, right by the main site of the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). The spenniest apartment up for grabs at the moment is 133m², and has a “shared living area and shared kitchen with a breakfast bar”. Bills are included. Er, I should think so!
