Hayden Panettiere’s friend shares emotional final text she sent him before her death at 36

He said it summed her up ‘in a nutshell’

Country musician Clayton Johnson, who was a friend of Hayden Panettiere, has shared the tragic final text she sent him before her death. The 36-year-old actress, known for Nashville and Heroes, died after suffering a cardiac arrest at a home in Greenville, South Carolina on Sunday.

In a statement, the Greenville County Coroner’s Office confirmed that first responders and Emergency Medical Services “located a female in cardiac arrest” and “initiated advanced cardiac life support measures”. However, “resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful, and the individual was pronounced deceased at 2.32pm”.

Panettiere had spoken to Clayton shortly before her death, and texted him an emotional message about wanting world peace, which he said sums her up as a person perfectly.

“Sweet Hayden. I spent last night trying to process, to try to find the right words, but there really aren’t any. More than anything, I hope you’re at peace now and reunited with Jansen,” the country singer wrote in a touching Instagram tribute alongside a video of them singing together.

“It’s been a couple of weeks since our last phone call, but the last thing you ever texted me was, ‘Honestly, people think it’s a joke to ask for world peace, but that would be me’. That was you in a nutshell. I’m grateful I got to know you, and I’ll always be grateful for the memories. Fly high, Hayden.”

An official cause of death has not yet been determined, but the initial autopsy report confirmed that there were “no signs of trauma”. Police also said there were “no signs of foul play”.

Panettiere leaves behind an 11-year-old daughter, Kaya, with her ex-fiancé Wladimir Klitschko. He shared a statement on Instagram, saying the family is “going through a time of profound shock and grief” and he is “deeply saddened by the news”. Klitschko emotionally added that she “left this world far too soon”.
