The 20 very specific rules Kendra Licari has to live by whilst on parole for catfishing crimes
Her life is anything but nice
Catfish mum Kendra Licari might technically be free now, but her life outside of prison comes with a strict set of rules. She was released on August 8th 2024, after serving her jail time for catfishing crimes.
The case is now back in the limelight following the release of Unknown Number: The High School Catfish on Netflix. In October 2020, a 13-year-old Lauryn Licari and her then-boyfriend Owen began getting suspicious texts from an unknown number. There was a brief pause in the messages, but then it turned into a daily barrage of hate and threats, for the next 15 months.
The texts commented on Lauryn’s looks, became threatening and were often grotesquely sexual regarding her relationship with Owen, when they were both underage. In a shocking twist, the texts had in fact been sent by her own mother, Kendra Licari.
In December 2022, Kendra Licari was arrested and charged with multiple counts of stalking a minor and using a computer to commit a crime. She pleaded guilty to two counts of stalking a minor. Her full sentence was 19 months to five years in prison.
She might be free now, but Kendra is still on parole. She will be supervised until February 2026.
