Netflix has dropped the infamous Poop Cruise doc and it’s ‘disturbing’ and ‘hideous’

It’s been backed in reviews as ‘one of the funniest docs in ages’… for all the wrong reasons

The infamous Poop Cruise documentary has finally hit Netflix, and the reviews are outstanding. Honestly guys, I fear this doc might change lives.

The hour-long documentary focuses around what should have been a relaxing holiday, but soon became known as the “poop cruise”. The case happened in 2013. A luxury cruise soon met disaster when a fault meant it was stranded at sea. The fault then meant toilets couldn’t flush, and soon the flooding on board was… beyond gross.

The disaster happened on the Carnival Triumph ship, on February 10th 2013. The ship suffered a fire in an engine room. This then knocked out the cruise liner’s power. The boat drifted – without power – for four days in total. For the whole time guests and staff were without air conditioning, and largely without lights, water, food or working toilets.

People on the ship were told to “do a number one in the shower” and a “poop in a red bag”. Yep, it really was that much of a mess. Now, the doc tells the story through recollections from crew members and passengers. The reviews are in for Trainwreck: Poop Cruise on Netflix, and surprisingly, they’re very, very good.

Reviews of the Poop Cruise documentary call it ‘hideous’ and ‘appropriately disturbing’

I don’t know about you, but I expected reviews of the Poop Cruise doc to say it was just a little crappy… literally and metaphorically. But actually, the reviews say it’s really good.

The Telegraph gave it four out of five stars, and said it “does not hold back on the hideous detail, and the result is one of the funniest documentaries in ages.” The review added the film is “hilarious” whilst still managing to contain “well-chosen and well-edited” interviews with those involved.

It later called the documentary “a gem” and concluded: “The documentary is only an hour long, which is good, because you wouldn’t want much more of this.” I mean, fair enough.

Another review, by CruiseRadio, said Carnival Cruises probably won’t want people to watch the doc, but we should anyway. It called the film “both appropriately disturbing and surprisingly heartfelt.” I’m listening!

Over on Twitter, people are reacting as you’d expect. “This Poop Cruise doc is wild,” one person said. Another added: “Trainwreck: Poop Cruise on Netflix is insane.” Say less.
