Heated Rivalry actor apologises for seemingly spoiling a detail of S2 and ‘creating confusion’

‘A video went viral that got me in trouble’

A Heated Rivalry actor has apologised after fans accused him of spoiling a key aspect of season two.

Dylan Walsh – who portrays Shane’s dad David Hollander – appeared to let slip a detail of season two in a Cameo video. In the message for a fan, he said: “Getting ready to go back up to Canada and shoot some more episodes… so, I think we’re doing 12 this time.” A clip of the Cameo video was reshared all over X and Reddit.

Now, the first season of Heated Rivalry consisted of six episodes, and the showrunner Jacob Tierney previously told the Los Angeles Times he didn’t see himself making more episodes than that for each season. So, Heated Rivalry viewers interpreted Dylan Walsh’s comments to mean that seasons two and three of Heated Rivalry were being filmed back-to-back, or season two would have two halves that aired at different times. Some fans also theorised about whether this meant Shane’s extended family would feature far more in the next seasons of the show than they do in the original book series.

A message was then shared on Dylan Walsh’s Cameo account, saying: “Stepping away because a video went viral that got me in trouble.” His profile said he would not be available for making videos until August 2027. These messages have now been removed, but the page still won’t take requests.

Dylan also issued a statement apologising for his actions. He said: “I was speaking off the cuff in a Cameo and should not have speculated about the production schedule or episode count. I don’t have any official information to announce, and I’m sorry for creating confusion for the production and the fans. My Cameo account is paused for now. I’m incredibly grateful for the enthusiasm surrounding Heated Rivalry and proud to be part of the series.”
