A Deadly American Marriage: Sarah Corbett says she believes her dad’s death was recorded

The daughter of Jason Corbett, the man who is at the centre of Netflix’s A Deadly American Marriage, has said she believes his death was recorded.

Jason Corbett died in 2015 after he was bludgeoned to death by his wife and father in law, Molly and Tom Martens.

A Deadly American Marriage has followed the case, and includes numerous interviews with Jason’s children, Sarah and Jack Corbett Lynch.

Sarah has spoken openly about the case, including how she feels her dad’s North Carolina death was recorded on a secret device.

During the case, it was heard how Jason’s wife, Molly, planted recording devices around their home, including in the bedroom where Jason died.

However, Sarah believes this recording device, which was not found by police, contained audio of her dad’s death.

Speaking on the Indo Daily podcast, Sarah explained how Molly had a hidden recording device in the master bedroom’s nightstand.

Sarah said: “Jack [Jason’s son] said it in his victim impact statement that he saw a recording device in a ziplock baggie in Bobby Martens’s [Molly’s brother] house a few days after my dad was killed, and Molly says on Netflix, she corroborates that there was a recording device in their bedroom on her nightstand.

“But do you know, that just begs the question, where is that recording device?”

The host asked Sarah if she believed this meant her dad’s death could’ve been recorded, to which she said it did.

“I believe it was and I also believe that it was premeditated. There’s so much evidence that points to premeditation, but that’s not the conviction that they have,” she said.

In the documentary, viewers heard how Molly had recorded arguments between her and Jason, but in Sarah’s victim impact statement, she said these clips had been “orchestrated and selected”.

Talking about the documentary, she explained that she’d wanted to do something like it for years as she felt she “didn’t have a voice”.

Sarah, who has also written a book about the case called A Time For Truth, added: “I wanted to tell the truth about my dad, and I wanted to tell the truth about the story and what truly happened inside of our home.”

She further explained that she felt the documentary showed both sides, her family’s and the Martens’, in an accurate light. She believes it showed Molly and her father’s “true character”, and said it seemed they had “no remorse and no regret” for Jason’s death.

However, since the killing, Sarah and Jack have moved back to Ireland to live with their aunt and uncle. As well as writing a book, Sarah is pursuing a degree in criminal justice and is an avid TikToker. Jack has stayed more out of the spotlight, but continues to live in Ireland.
