The area is designed to cater for those not living in the city whilst studying
The University of Manchester has opened a commuter student space, to allow those travelling into the city to study an area to relax in and catch up on work.
It features lounge seating, study pods, kitchen facilities, multi-faith prayer spaces, shower facilities and lockers.
The area is located on the fourth floor of the Booth Street East Building, and has been created specifically for those commuting to university.
Designed with flexibility in mind, the space is open Monday to Friday from 8am to 6pm.
University of Manchester has advertised the space as “perfect for relaxing or catching up on work between lectures”.
Adding: “Whether you’re between lectures, need a space to refresh or recharge, the space is here for you.”
The university reports that each year, commuter students make up 14 to 18 per cent of the student body, and has previously set up a “Commuter Hub” to offer support, mentoring and communities for students who don’t live in Manchester.
