Birmingham students left ‘scared’ after fight breaks out in popular night club
‘Me and my friends turned around there wads this craziness, my friends got charged into by a guy’
Birmingham students were left “scared” after a fight broke out at a city centre nightclub.
On Friday 24th January, a brawl broke out in the middle of a rave at Lab 11 in Digbeth during a Desi Fever event.
A 21-year-old Aston University student attending the event witnessed the fight, which she described as “sloppy”.
She told Birmingham Live: “All the girls were so scared. Nothing was done about this for ages.”
The student who wished to stay anonymous continued by saying she’s been to many events at Lab 11 and security are usually quick to respond to incidents like this, however, this time she felt they weren’t.
She said: “Me and my friends turned around there was this craziness, my friend got charged into by a guy. When she turned around there was a bunch of guys fighting.”
A video circulating on TikTok shows the fight, in it you can see men throwing punches at each other on the dance floor whilst people stand around watching and filming. A third man then gets involved punches another.

A security guard walks over to the brawl and attempts to stand between them to diffuse the situation whilst one of the man bobs and weaves in preparation for another punch.
The security then comes at him from the side and effectively carries the man out of the club.
The footage gained over 100,000 views, with a number of people commenting on the situation.
One said: “What kind of fight is this? Bunch of rubbish, man don’t even know how to throw a punch, with another commenting: “Pathetic”.

The Aston University student added: “I am from an Indian family and I showed my parents the video, they said if you want to go out and enjoy these nights you should tell someone. It is not safe”.
She later said, “We thought it would be a vibe to see more people that look like us. If it continues like this one of us will end up beaten up. It puts a sour taste in your mouth”.
Lab 11 and Desi Fever have both been contacted for comment but did not reply.
