Leeds Conservatoire students coming together to host retro-fuelled night at Headrow House
The event will take place this Saturday on 22nd February 2025
Leeds Conservatoire students are coming together to host a retro-fuelled night at Headrow House.
Events company, Ruby Red, will debut the Heart & Soul event at the venue on 22nd February 2025, featuring a lineup of Leeds Conservatoire talent.
The students promise to bring love, rhythm, and nostalgia to the city with an intimate club night at Headrow House.
Ruby Red is a new events company started by participating student DJ, Oz Cliff, from Leeds Conservatoire – a renowned institute of music and performing arts.
The event, called Heart & Soul, will feature a diverse lineup of four third-year conservatoire music production BA students in a fusion of “retro charm and modern flair”, as described by Felix Appleby, jazz aficionado and DJ at the upcoming event.
With a variety of musical backgrounds, genre and experience, the event will represent the epitome of Leeds student culture and celebrate local talent.
The night will highlight the sounds of the 80s and 90s, with soulful vocals, funk grooves, disco beats, and old-school house music.
The night will start with Felix Appleby’s set, followed by Oz Cliff, known for his expertise in pop and Afrobeats.
Jackson Davis, a hyper-pop producer with roots in punk, will take the stage next, and Michael Franks, a DJ with experience performing at Better Days Festival, will close the evening.
“I’m excited to bring together a mix of well-loved classics and modern remixes,” said Felix. “Being my first big event, there’s definitely some anxiety, but seeing the tickets sell and the lineup come together, I’m more excited than ever to see the night’s energy unfold.”

Headrow House was selected as the venue of choice because of its status as a staple of Leeds nightlife.
“It offers the perfect environment for our event,” Felix told The Leeds Tab. “It’s an intimate space with a strong sound system and a wide demographic appeal.”
The event capacity is 300, and with 157 tickets already sold as of Wednesday, the event is likely to see great success. Heart & Soul will run from 11pm to 4am and is strictly 18+.
