Celebrity Traitors’ Celia Imrie gave a wise warning to Richard… which he evidently ignored

They spoke before he went on the show; maybe he should’ve written it down?

Celia Imrie took part in The Celebrity Traitors season one, so naturally, she shared some wise advice with Richard E. Grant before he appeared on our screens for season two. I don’t think he listened very hard.

Last year, the actress rose as an instantly quotable icon on The Celebrity Traitors season one. She had *that* line that everybody remembers – you know – another word for a kitty, and there’s no forgetting her fart moment.

Celia did pretty well too, making it to the top seven before being murdered by the Traitors, Jonathan Ross, Cat Burns, and the nefarious man who won it all, Alan Carr.

Considering how far she got, Richard was keen to listen to her advice, even if it did go out the window when he exclaimed, “I’m a Traitor” three minutes into episode one.

Celia Imrie said Richard E. Grant would struggle to keep his ‘brain working’

In an interview with The Times, the iconic actress from Bridget Jones warned her friend that he would struggle to keep his “brain working”, which I think we saw during episode one. She urged him to pace himself, because it’s “hard always being on”, but he obviously forgot about that within minutes and confessed his traitorous ways before even doing any traitoring.

“[He] rang me up and asked what it was like. I said I didn’t quite know what I was letting myself in for,” she said. “But it was good fun, although it’s very strict and there is an element of cruelty about the game.”

Ironically, Richard E. Grant also dished on the advice he got from his friend.

“We’ve known each other for 40 years. I said, ‘Celia, what is the thing you can’t be prepared for?’ She said, ‘The cruelty of people who you instinctively want to trust, in a room like this and suddenly every single person suspects you’. And I think that’s a very accurate thing to have said,” he said on The One Show earlier this year.

It’s funny that his friend told him to play it cool, and he was just incapable of maintaining a poker face. Dare I say he’s already in The Celebrity Traitors hall of fame?
