Rob Beckett reveals his connections to the Celebrity Traitors cast, from Romesh to Joe Lycett
‘Everyone wants to be on it’
Celebrity Traitors is packed with famous faces, but some of the contestants like Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan already know each other extremely well, which could make the game of trust even harder.

Rob and Romesh are particularly close, having been friends for years and worked together on multiple projects, including their travel series Rob & Romesh Vs. The pair have also appeared together on panel shows including Mock the Week, so they are hardly strangers when it comes to working alongside each other.
Despite their friendship, Romesh admitted he still wouldn’t know whether he could trust Rob once the game began.
“Rob is one of my best friends, and we’ve worked together for a decade now, but I still won’t be able to trust it,” Romesh told the BBC. “I mean, he’s just as easily going to be on my side as he is going to twist the knife in my back given the opportunity.”
And it seems Rob feels exactly the same way about Romesh. Speaking to Beyond The Joke, Rob said he would be taking the competition seriously despite knowing several of the people around him.

“Once I’m in it, I’ll be competitive because there’s no point doing the game if you don’t want to win it,” he said. “I think I’ll just find the whole scenario hilarious because it’s just so surreal to be around that group of people, and to be with a few people I know.”
He singled out Romesh, as well as Joe Lycett and James Acaster, as people he has history with outside the castle.
“Romesh, obviously everyone knows we’re such good friends, but Joe Lycett and James Acaster, I did gigs with them nearly 20 years ago, in pubs in Soho in front of eight people, and now all of a sudden we’re in this situation.
“So, it’s quite a reflective moment to consider this journey we’ve all gone on to now be on the biggest show on TV,” he said.
“Everyone wants to be on it, and we’re very lucky to be here and to be here with friends and people that I’ve come through the ranks with and been able to confide in over the years. It’s quite nice to see all of us here as grown-ups.”

However, when asked whether he would actually be capable of betraying those friends if the game demanded it, Rob didn’t hesitate.
“Oh yes, if it’s part of the game. And I’d expect vice versa,” he said.
Rob’s connections inside the castle don’t stop there. Joe Lycett previously appeared alongside him on the TV show Last One Laughing, while Joanne McNally and Romesh have also worked together on the game show Unacceptable.
James Acaster has another connection to Romesh, having appeared on each other’s podcasts. For Rob, though, it seems none of that is enough to guarantee anyone’s safety.
