Richard E Grant explains his chaotic behaviour on Celebrity Traitors to Amol Rajan

The first two episodes were a rollercoaster

Amol Rajan was the first one to leave Celebrity Traitors 2026, and he’s revealed what Richard E Grant told him about his chaotic behaviour.

The broadcaster was murdered by Richard and Maya Jama after they chose to recruit James Acaster as a fellow Traitor in a dramatic face-to-face recruitment.

It came just hours after actor Richard literally told everyone he was a Traitor in one of the wildest moments in the TV show’s history. Probably the wildest moment actually.

Straight after leaving the Round Table Grant headed into the lounge and was asked by comedian Joe Lycett if he was a Traitor or a Faithful. He blurted out in response: “I am a Traitor.”

Lycett couldn’t believe what he was hearing and asked: “Are you?” Grant then casually tried to play it off by joking: “What’s the point in being in the game if you’re not?”

After his exit, Amol has revealed that Grant told him he “just went mad” throughout the entire first two episodes of the show. Well, that’s an understatement.

“A few weeks ago, I met Richard for lunch, along with a close mutual friend. We had a lovely time, and made up. I asked him why he killed me,” Amol wrote in his newsletter.

Recalling a real-life conversation between them, he revealed that Richard told him he murdered him: “To protect myself, and that’s a compliment!” Amol replied: “But if you really wanted protection, you should have recruited me. That would have been a compliment!”

“Ah yes, that makes sense. But I think I just went mad,” he replied about his general behaviour on the show. Amol then joked: “You can say that again, Withnail, mate.”

If that was just the first two episodes, the next four weeks are going to be one hell of a rollercoaster.
