Lightbulb moment: Four of the Celebrity Traitors cast were in Doctor Who, and I didn’t clock it

Whenever celebs come together, like on The Celebrity Traitors, people instantly start to make connections between them and their bodies of work.

For this season of The Celebrity Traitors, people clocked the Game of Thrones connections between a few of the names. Bella Ramsey played Lady Lyanna Mormont in four seasons, including season six, which also boasted Sebastian Croft as a young Ned Stark and Richard E. Grant as Izembaro. He was the kooky leader of a theatre troupe, in case you forgot.

But the connections didn’t stop there, because a few of the cast have also been in another BBC flagship project: Doctor Who.

Doctor Who always has a unique approach to applying modern-day problems and themes to a sci-fi setting. In season 11’s Kerblam!, which was during the Jodie Whittaker era, the show posed an interesting idea: What if Amazon deliveries went intergalactic AND robots replaced the workforce?

In the episode, Celebrity Traitors star Julie Hesmondhalgh played Judy Maddox, the sort-of HR rep for the Kerblam company. She managed to survive the terror plot and vowed to restructure Kerblam away from automation.

Over the years, Richard E. Grant has lent his phenomenal talents to so many fantasy and science fiction projects. One of them was Doctor Who, and he appeared in The Snowmen, The Bells of Saint John, and The Name of the Doctor as Dr Walter Simeon and The Great Intelligence. He also took part in the animated show Scream of the Shalka and the 1999 Comic Relief special, The Curse of Fatal Death.

I had no idea Michael Sheen was in Doctor Who?!

Much like Richard, Michael Sheen is a big fan of otherworldly TV and film, or did you forget his iconic performance in the Twilight series?

In season six, when Matt Smith was the Doctor, The Celebrity Traitors star played House, a malevolent planet that literally ate TARDISes. Randomly, he also lent his voice to the character of COVID-19 in the mini-episode 2020: The Movie.

Amol Rajan played himself

Amol Rajan had a slightly different role in the Doctor Who franchise, playing versions of himself in 73 Yards and Empire of Death in season 14. Still, pretty damn cool.
