Hear me out: Squid Game’s Front Man is a good guy and now his actions make so much sense
With all the crazy theories, we’ve missed the most obvious one
I don’t want to sound like a tinfoil-hat wearing lunatic but I’m pretty sure that Squid Game’s Front Man is actually a good guy who is simply using Gi-hun to take down the elaborate operation from the inside.
I am very much in a Squid Game rabbit hole. From Player 246 being alive to Dae-ho being a secret traitor, just about every outlandish theory is starting to make sense. I might need to touch some grass.
The Front Man could have killed his brother but didn’t
We were first introduced to the Front Man – real name Hwang In-ho – in season one of the Netflix show. He was unmasked as the enigmatic Front Man by his brother, Hwang Jun-ho, who was then left for dead with a seemingly fatal bullet wound.
But that’s just it, he didn’t die. He was rescued by the mysterious ship captain who we now understand to be working for the Front Man, meaning he gave very specific instructions about keeping his half-brother alive. Moreso, as a former high-ranking police officer In-ho surely knows how to fire a gun and wouldn’t have missed the shot if he’d actually wanted to kill him.
He didn’t want his brother dead, simply out of the way.
Shooting Gi-Hun would have solved all his issues
Season two saw the Front Man enter his own games to take down Seong Gi-hun’s rebellion from the inside. He posed as Player 001 under the alias Oh Young-il and got to work unravelling Gi-hun’s wise words of encouragement, team-building exercises, and heartwarming personal stories.

But after six games, late-night conversations, and lots of maintained eye contact, Gi-Hun is still very much alive. So why didn’t he kill him? I reckon it’s because the Front Man needs Gi-hun alive to take down the Squid Game.
Personally, I’m still steadfast in my belief that In-ho and Gi-hun are secretly in love.
He killed his own soldiers
During Gi-hun’s failed rebellion in the final few episodes of season two, you can see the Front Man gunning down his own employees. Though you might suggest it was to keep up appearances, he could have claimed to be a poor shot, faked his death earlier, or refused to fight. The man had options.
Though none of my points are categorical evidence, it does add to the growing Reddit theory that In-ho is simply on an undercover assignment for the South Korean police.
