Hear me out: The mushy moments that convinced me Squid Game’s Gi-Hun and Front Man are in love

Love Actually has got nothing on season two of Squid Game

With all the Squid Game season two theories emerging from the murky depths of Reddit, I have become convinced that the Front Man and Seong Gi-hun are secretly in love.

We were first introduced to the Front Man – real name Hwang In-ho – in season one when he was revealed as the brother of detective Hwang Jun-ho. He became the enigmatic leader of the deadly games following the founder’s death, and much of season two saw him try to take down Gi-hun as an inside man.

But between the flying bullets, Thanos’ ravings, and the looming threat of death, the Front Man and Seong Gi-hun made me think I was watching a romantic comedy. Here’s my evidence.

1. They love spending time togetherIn Hi

Despite the Front Man putting himself in harm’s way to keep an eye on the main character, was he actually in any real danger from his employees? Proboably not. Nonetheless, throughout the iconic six-legged pentathlon, he seemed to forget the deadly nature of the game and just have a good time with his new friends.

When Cho Hyun-ju’s team won their attempt, Gi-hun and the Front Man literally leapt into one another’s arms. It was hella cute.

2. Gi-Hun’s touch calmed him

Also in the six-legged pentathlon, the Front Man struggled to complete his spinning top challenge as his hands were shaking. Did he fail? Of course not, because one touch from his secret crush calmed him and they won.

3. Literally switched sides for him

In Ho

Though In-ho first chose the circle to carry on with the competition, something he claimed Gi-hun inspired him to do, he soon changed his tune and changed to the cross. That little smile he gave Gi-hun after changing teams was adorable.

4. They always tried to find each other

By the end of the season, Gi-hun and the Front Man were a powerful team – largely because the latter was snapping the necks of competitors in secret. No judgement, he was just protecting his man. After each game, both of the men hurriedly looked for each other, calling out one another’s names like a kid lost at the supermarket.

5. The Front Man literally asked him on a date, kinda

In-Ho

I could’ve watched eight hours of Gi-hun and the Front Man’s late-night conversations about a “game plan” – which was definitely just an excuse to spend time together.

A particularly cute moment came when the Front Man said “You can buy me soju after” they make it out of the Squid Game. Where something nice In-ho, and please leave the black mask at home.

6. A couple that shares bullets, doesn’t meet them

A lot was happening in the final episode of Squid Game season two, but honestly? All I saw was the Front Man offering Gi-Hun the last of his bullets. Granted, he only did this because moments later he was going to betray him and kill Jung-bae, but it was still super cute.

They would definitely share outfits.

7. It would have been easier to just kill him

Though some have speculated that the Front Man wants Gi-hun to take over from him, putting a bullet in his head would have been a much simpler solution to his schemes and plans. Why didn’t he? Because he loves him, of course.

You can’t even call me crazy, because most of the leading theories about Squid Game season two center around milk!
