A Reclaim the Night protest is taking place in Notts this Saturday
The protest is open to women only
Hundreds of people are expected at the annual Reclaim the Night protest taking place this Saturday in Nottingham City Centre.
The protest will begin with a march starting from Blend Café in Sneinton Market at 6.30pm and make its way through the city centre, ending in a rally at NTU’s Dryden Centre at 7.45pm.
Speakers at the rally include the MP for Nottingham East, Nadia Whittome and Ife Oyedeji, President of University of Nottingham’s feminist society.
The protest is raising awareness for gender-based violence and is in solidarity with the recent rise in alleged spikings in the city.
The protest is open to women only and in a statement made on Facebook, Reclaim The Night state that they are a “trans-inclusive march” welcoming non-binary and gender non-conforming people.
