URN sweeps the board at Student Radio Awards

Last night URN descended on the Indigo, O2 London for the annual Student Radio Awards and came away with 10 awards.

The coveted awards ceremony was hosted by the likes of Greg James, Clara Afmo, Matt Edmonson and Dave Berry.

This year URN took home four Gold, five Silver and one Bronze award and placed in second for Best Student Radio.

The awards were judged by a group of over 1000 experts from the radio industry including presenters, producers and radio executives.

Emma pearce won best interview

URN won Gold in Best Sports Programming for URN Sport, Best Journalistic Programme for The Pulse, Best Interview for Emma Pearce interviews Mike Buchanan  and Best Marketing and Station Sound.

 For the previous five years URN have scooped the biggest prize of the night, Best Student Radio but lost this year to Smoke Radio, University of Westminster.

51 students traveled down to London, making URN the biggest student representation of the night.

Jessica McNamee, Station Editor of URN told the The Tab, ‘It was incredible to see the awards we picked up reflecting a years worth of hard work and new ideas. URN is always trying to stay at the top of its game and we are so happy with the results’.
