Distraught exchange student has two hats stolen at FND

He wants them back

A demoralised exchange student is appealing to the people of Loughborough to reunite him with two missing hats.

Environmental Sciences third year Ryan Tidman is on a semester abroad from the Uni of Guelph in Canada but has already had two of his most beloved hats snatched from his head at FND this month.

Ryan told The Tab: “In Canada literally every guy wears hats so it’s not a big deal, but I guess here it is.

“I’m pretty bummed out that I had them stolen, I mean it’s kind of disappointing because it’s been my only bad experience so far in Loughborough.”

Ryan posted an appeal on the Official Loughborough Freshers page and expressed his desire to see his hats come home, but acknowledged the motives behind the crime: “I guess I understand, there’s nothing more fun than stealing shit when you’re drunk, right?”

The first hat was a New York Yankees peaked cap.

It held no sentimental value to Ryan, but he did confess its status as the “all-time classic hat”.

He has already ordered a new one off Amazon.

The second hat, beige with a leather strap and green peak, was a parting gift from a work placement in the US over the summer – perhaps ironic, as he didn’t even get to say goodbye to it.

After lending the hat to a friend for the night, you can only imagine the horror he felt when discovering it had been stolen.

He said: “It was a pretty ugly hat to be honest but it had a sentimental meaning to it.”

Since his post appeared on the freshers Facebook page, Ryan has been met with a mixed response.

Most are calling for the hats to be returned, but Tom Braybooke showed no such compassion when he commented: “You should probably stop wearing hats to the union”.

If you, or anyone you know has any information on the whereabouts of these two hats, or any other hats for that matter, please speak up.

Ryan and all Loughborough’s hat wearers depend on you.
