Durham W1 Volleyball team win second national final in a row
They absolutely smashed it
The bank holiday weekend brought a highly anticipated Volleyball National Final between Team Durham and Northumbria, with Durham W1s gaining a stunning 3-0 victory.
Televised on BBC Sport, the Volleyball Super 8 division was a two-game series with Team Durham facing Northumbria on Saturday 5 May and Sunday 6 May, in a repeat of last years final- where Durham also took the title of National Champions.
Captain of the W1s Volleyball team, Clare Felix, spoke of the team's achievements: "We are so incredibly humbled to have made it to our third final this year representing Team Durham and I have never been so proud.
"I could not have imagined a better way to end this season than for us as a team to hold up that trophy together, especially knowing that for some, this would be their last time ever putting a jersey on."
Upon being crowned champions for the second year in a row Clare added: "We are ecstatic at continuing the winning streak for Durham in the NVL league. We know it was an incredible opportunity to be able to play in the final, but also have it be the first recognized NVL match on a major events channel (streamed live on BBC sports)."
The Volleyball Super 8 division is the highest of the four divisions in the England National Volleyball League.
