Fans are calling out Travis Kelce for his ‘problematic, sexist,’ and ‘ableist’ old tweets

Uh oh, someone found Taylor Swift’s boyfriend Travis Kelce’s old tweets and they’re really not great, with fans describing them as “problematic.” Travis has since deleted the tweets which he posted from 2010 to 2011.

His tweets have angered fans who have called them “sexist” and “ableist,” with Travis tweeting that girls’ “backfat is nasty,” as well as saying that there are “too many ugly cheerleaders out there.”

Kelce also used a slur referring to a person with an intellectual disability. In a 2011 reply to one user, Kelce posted, “They slow as hell cuz their parents have been talkin’ to them like they were re**rded since they were babies.”

The comments have sparked a big reaction on Reddit and Twitter, where the tweets first emerged, with some accusing the Kansas City Chiefs player of “misogyny” and being “fat-phobic,” while others have drawn attention to the fact the tweets were posted more than a decade ago when Travis was around 21 years old.

One supporter defended Travis Kelce saying: “Boy howdy, I am shocked that a 20-21-year-old athlete from Ohio wasn’t the most enlightened young man online in 2010.”

However, one Reddit user argued: “I feel like this is being too generous, you don’t need to be ‘the most enlightened young man online in 2010’ to not be rude or make fun of how people look. I was alive in 2010 and don’t remember it being okay then either. Obviously, nothing will happen to him or their relationship because of this, but it gives me the ick.”

Another Travis fan reacted: “Yo why the f**k are we digging up literally almost 15-year-old tweets from Travis Kelce??? pls grow up something someone said on Twitter FIFTEEN years ago is not an accurate reflection of the person they are today.”

Sharing their thoughts, one wrote on Reddit: ‘I know these are harmful and misogynistic, etc. but whenever stuff like this comes out, I’m also always so blown away how UNFUNNY these loser guys are. Hashtagging one of these as ‘comedy’ is so bold, he sounds 12 years old. Always so shocked by a cis white man’s audacity to think anyone gave a fuck about his opinion on the ‘clippers girls.'”
