Just a list of all the bombshells Harry dropped about Prince William in the Netflix doc
‘I’m probably never going to get a genuine apology’
If there’s one big takeaway from the second half of Netflix’s Harry & Meghan, it’s that the relationship between Harry and William broke down MASSIVELY.
All eyes have been on the brothers since Prince Harry left the UK for good with his family, and rumours have been circulating for years about the state of their relationship. Aside from a joint statement – which Harry now claims was falsely attributed to him – they’ve kept incredibly quiet about it.
Now, Harry’s having his say. From screaming matches to planting stories; here’s everything Harry has said about Prince William in the doc:
Harry and William stopped sharing a comms team after stories about Meghan were ‘planted’ in the press
Harry, William, Meghan and Kate all shared one PR/comms team, until the tabloid stories about the Duchess of Sussex started to get absolutely out of control.
“There’s leaking, but there’s also planting of stories,” Harry said. “So, if the comms team want to be able to remove a negative story about their principle – they will trade and give you something about someone else’s principle.
“William and I saw what happened in our dad’s office, and we made an agreement that we would never let that happen to our office.”
In Christmas 2019, Harry and William’s comms team decided to split for good.
William ‘screamed and shouted’ at Harry after he chose to leave the UK for good
While speaking about choosing to uproot his family to Vancouver Island for good, Harry recalls being “screamed and shouted” at by his brother.
“It was terrifying to have my brother scream and shout at me, and my father say things that just simply weren’t true, and my grandmother quietly sit there and sort of take it all in.”
Harry went on record to claim he never refuted the bullying allegations against William
Allegations of Prince William “bullying” Harry out of the Royal Family made headline news shortly after he left. While Harry didn’t confirm or deny these claims; he made a point of saying he wasn’t consulted when he was attributed to a joint statement from the Palace “debunking” them.
“Despite clear denials,” the statement said, “a false story ran in a U.K. newspaper today speculating about the relationship between the Duke of Sussex and the Duke of Cambridge. For brothers who care so deeply about the issues surrounding mental health, the use of inflammatory language in this way is offensive and potentially harmful.”
“I couldn’t believe it,” Harry said in the doc. “No-one had asked me permission to put my name to a statement like that. I rang M, and I told her, and she burst into floods of tears. Because within four hours they were happy to lie to protect my brother.”
William and King Charles should ‘apologise’ and ‘take accountability,’ Harry says
Harry recalled an uncomfortable conversation he had with Charles and William at his grandad, Prince Philip’s, funeral.
“They were just focused on the same misinterpretation of the whole situation,” he said. “None of us really wanted to talk about it over my grandfather’s funeral, but we did. And, I’ve had to make peace with the fact that I’m probably never going to get genuine accountability or a genuine apology.
“My wife and I… we’re moving on. We’re focused on what’s coming next.”
