People on TikTok are now realising what a total vibe Princess Anne has always been

Her style in the 1970s was *chef’s kiss*

Viewers of Netflix’s The Crown will know Princess Anne is hands down one of the best royals. She’s witty, sharp, takes no bullshit and always puts her brothers in their place. Whilst The Crown is a dramatisation of real life and it can’t be 100 per cent accurate, it’s safe to say the real Princess Anne is just as cool in real life too. And now season five is here, people on TikTok are just discovering what a vibe Princess Anne always was and continues to be.

She’s an Olympian, a Nobel Peace Prize nominee, hates Twitter, and quite literally told a would-be kidnapper “not bloody likely” when they tried to kidnap her.

TikTok is full of people sharing videos proving what an icon Anne is. From her wardrobe to refusing to be kidnapped, she has always been a legend and it’s a shame we’ve never given her more credit.

This is every reason why people on TikTok are obsessed with Princess Anne:

One of the biggest stories going around on TikTok about Princess Anne is the time when she refused to be kidnapped.

In 1974 Princess Anne was returning to Buckingham Palace with her then-husband Mark Phillips, when a Ford Escort forced their car to stop. The driver of the Ford, Ian Ball, got out and began shooting a pistol at them.

Both Anne’s personal police officer and chauffeur were shot trying to defend her, as well as a nearby tabloid journalist who tried to intervene and help.

Ball then told Anne to get out of the car as he was going to kidnap her and hold her for ransom, he was said to be wanting to give the money to the NHS. However, Anne refused to get out of the car and said the famous words: “Not bloody likely!” and considered hitting him.

Princess Anne and her lady-in-waiting eventually did get out of the car and were helped by passerby Ron Russell, who happened to be a former boxer, who punched Ball and lead Anne to safety.

Princess Anne is an Olympian

Princess Anne has always been obsessed with horses and in 1976 she competed in the Olympic Games in Montreal.

Whilst competing at the games on the Queen’s horse, Princess Anne fell off the horse and suffered a concussion, but got back on the horse and complete the course.

She dislikes Donald Trump as much as the rest of us

Another clip going big on TikTok is when Princess Anne basically refused to shake Donald Trump’s hand during his state visit to the UK.

In the clip, the Queen can be seen trying to get Princess Anne to greet Donald Trump but she essentially refuses and brushes her mother off.

Her style is iconic

Throughout the 1960s and 70s Princess Anne had the coolest wardrobe, like I would literally wear everything she wore then now. And TikTok is equally obsessed with videos full of images of her best looks.

Even the editor of British Vogue, Edward Enninful, has previously remarked on her sense of style, describing her as “a true style icon and was all about sustainable fashion before the rest of us really knew what that meant.” She’s been on the cover of British Vogue three times, with her first cover happening when she was 21 years old.

Today she still wears some pretty cool pieces, like the Adidas frameless sunglasses she wore in 2018 long before Balenciaga made their own iconic pair.

Princess Anne has been nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize

Princess Anne has long been considered one of the hardest-working royals and has completed over 20,000 engagements since she was 18 years old.

One of her longest-standing projects she has worked on is the charity Save The Children, which she has been a patron of for over 50 years and the charity’s president from 1970 to 2017.

After 20 years of work at the charity President Kenneth Kaunda of Zambia nominated Anne for a Nobel Peace Prize for all the work she had done.
