Who is Charlie Evans and where is he now? The hacker who helped Hunter Moore

The new Netflix docuseries, The Most Hated Man on the Internet, tells the story of Hunter Moore and his website IsAnyoneUp.com and how he became the “king of revenge porn”. The three-part documentary shares the stories of the victims of the website and the people who helped bring it down.

One of the people who was working with Hunter was Charlie Evans, a hacker who helped Moore gain access to private nude photographs and email addresses to produce content on the revenge porn website. Here is everything you need to know about Charlie Evans and what he is up to now:

Who is Charlie Evans?

Hunter Moore hired Charlie Evans as a hacker to gain more private images of people to put onto IsAnyoneUp.com. Charlie would hack into women’s email accounts and steal explicit images of them and sell them to Hunter. Hunter would then publish these images onto his website along with the victims’ social media details and personal information.

Moore would pay Charlie up to $200 a week to steal photos for his website. The two met after Evans hacked into Moore’s own account and it was from that Moore got in contact and asked if he could help.

During the FBI investigations, agents began to notice that shortly after a correspondence between Moore and Evans, a new photo would appear on the website. When the FBI searched Moore’s property, they found emails between him and Charlie starting from 2011. In 2014, Evans plead guilty to the charges of computer hacking and identity theft and was sentenced to two years and one month in prison. He was ordered to pay a $2,000 fine and $147.50 in restitution to one of his victims and he had to undertake 20 hours of community service.

Where is Charlie Evans now?

Charlie was released from prison in November 2017 and has kept an extremely low profile since. In 2015 he spoke to CNN and said: “Every day I struggle with what kind of man I want to be and I just do the work. I’m telling you all these clichés, but they’re clichés for a reason. I talk to my sponsor a lot. How I’m going to make amends to all these women. I’ve done a couple rough drafts of what I want to say.”
