Netflix is reportedly creating a docuseries following England WAGs around the World Cup

Dani Dyer and Jack Grealish’s girlfriend Sasha have been offered huge sums to appear

Netflix is reportedly creating a docuseries following the WAGs of the England squad around the upcoming World Cup. Some of the partners of the squad have apparently already been approached to take part, and have been offered huge sums of money.

The Sun reports Jack Grealish’s girlfriend Sasha Attwood and Dani Dyer, who is currently dating Jarrod Bowen, are among those Netflix is trying to get on-board. Luke Shaw’s wife Anouska Santos is also said to have been in talks. The WAGs docuseries is reportedly set to cost Netflix around £1million.

Cameras will follow them as they go about their daily lives and support their other halves during the 2022 World Cup, which kickstarts in Qatar this November. A source said: “The proposed docuseries would show off the luxury lifestyle these women lead as they support their other halves in the World Cup lead up. There is huge interest in them again as England prepare for the tournament.

“There is a wish-list in place of the women they want. Very substantial fees are being offered. However, it’s certain Gareth Southgate would strongly disapprove of any wives or girlfriends signing up to it, as it would be a major distraction to him and the players.”

Apparently, Gareth Southgate and Harry Kane aren’t too keen on the idea. According to the Mirror, Kane has said: “We’ve created this really good environment where friends and family, girlfriends and wives have been part of the team and the group, especially when we’ve been away. Last summer was a bit different obviously, but I’ve not been contacted about my wife [being involved] and she hasn’t, so I’m not sure whose has. We want to focus on the World Cup and we don’t want any distraction from that.”

Southgate added: “It’s not my cup of tea, really. I’d be surprised if the group of players we’ve got would have an interest in that. Because they’ve wanted to focus on football. The focus in Russia and last summer was all about the players and everything that they do. We’ve never had any issues. We like to involve the families.

“I actually think the term WAGs is quite disrespectful, it’s their partners and family. I don’t like the term. We want them to feel welcome and we invited them into the hotel when we could in Russia. Mums, dads and kids. It’s a great feeling when you’ve the kids in especially. It changes the dynamic of the hotel. We couldn’t do that last year because of Covid. It’s one big family and I think everyone recognises that part of what we do has been very good over the last couple of years.”
