The Tinder Swindler Simon Leviev says his Instagram was hacked after Netflix doc
He made a new one but that has been taken down too
Simon Leviev, aka The Tinder Swindler, has said his Instagram account has been hacked and he has been forced to make a new one. The account he had been using previously is featured heavily in the Netflix documentary about him, and had gained over 200k followers since its release.
The original account, @simon_leviev_official, was still used by him – and he had recently been sharing videos with his new girlfriend, Israeli model Kate Konlin. Over the weekend, he posted a video on his Instagram story on the new account which claimed the original profile had been hacked and he had now started a new one. He said the new profile was the only account which now belongs to and is run by him. That one has since been taken down, too.
Before the new one was removed he had posted a bunch of pictures of him in fancy cars, travelling and in private jets – to make sure it fit his billionaire brand. It was only days before this account disappeared too – and it’s not yet known why this account no longer exists. There are now countless accounts claiming to belong to Simon Leviev and at the time of publishing, there are no known Instagram accounts that really are his.
Just before his first account was hacked, Leviev posted a statement saying he would tell his side of the story soon. He said: “Thank you for all your support. I will share my side of the story in the next few days when I have sorted out the best and most respectful way to tell it, both to the involved parties and myself. Until then, please keep an open mind and heart.”
He briefly took his Instagram off private when the Netflix film was released, and people posted under his most recent posts “homeless king”, “pathetic little fraud” and said he will get his bad karma soon. More comments added that he is “a horrible human being” whilst some people were in the comments asking how they can do what he did too. Others added “shame on you”.
The film was released last week and tells the jaw-dropping story of how Shimon Hayut posed as a billionaire heir, Simon Leviev, on Tinder and used this to con women out of hundreds of thousands, all over the world. He seduced women by treating them to luxury gifts and a fancy lifestyle, all paid for by previous women he had scammed.
Shimon called himself the “Prince of Diamonds” and lured the women to open up huge lines of credit which he would use to fund his lavish and luxury lifestyle. He would say he needed the cash as threats had been made against him and his life depended on it and would then disappear. The film estimates, over the years, Shimon Hayut (known as Simon Leviev) stole $10million (£7.4million). He is now a free man.
