Veronica Green Drag Race

Reintroducing Veronica Green, the Drag Race UK icon back for season three

Covid halted her season two run, but she’s back for round two

Veronica Green was undoubtedly establishing herself as a frontrunner in RuPaul’s Drag Race UK season two. She was proving everyone who underestimated her wrong week after week, before her successful run was halted in its tracks. We got the sad news that after all the queens got sent home due to the pandemic, one of them wouldn’t be able to return to compete due to testing positive for Covid. Veronica Green, halted in her prime. But RuPaul gave her that open invitation to return for season three, and she’s back with a no-Covid-to-be-found drive to win!

With September 23rd just around the corner and season three of Drag Race UK so close to being back, here’s everything you need to know about the 35-year-old northern icon Veronica Green.

She’s incredibly proud of the huge success of season two

Season two of Drag Race UK had the whole country in a chokehold. It was arguably the best season of Drag Race ever, and there’s a lot of pressure on season three to keep up that momentum. Veronica said on season three: “I always knew that season two of Drag Race UK was going to be THAT season. It was just legendary and we gagged the world.”

Veronica says she’s been working on her improv and comedy since season two, with the improv week being her weakest moment on her run. When asked what she is most looking forward to this time round, Veronica had one thing to say: “Winning!”

She’s had celebrity fans reach out to her since the show

Veronica says she’s received a DM from Frankie Grande (Ariana’s brother), done a song with Myleene Klass on the piano and even had Boy George, the queer icon that she paid homage to on season two, ask her to be in his music video. “It’s been a blast, and I’ve been overwhelmed with the love and support.”

Her drag is influenced and named after her sister, and her mum helps make Veronica’s looks

Veronica Green’s Meet The Queens look has a lot of sentimental value. The dress was made by Veronica’s mum for Veronica’s sister’s prom and is a family heirloom. Veronica named her drag persona after her sister. “I stole her name, might as well steal her clothes too!”

Veronica Green hopes that being a returning queen will give her an advantage

Veronica Green says that being back on Drag Race UK is just as fun as the first time round, but hopes that her experience with challenges and runways will give her the leg up on her competition. “I’m having the time of my life all over again. It’s a new batch of queens and you have no idea who is going to walk through that door and what skills people have. What was great on season two is that I was one of a kind and really stood out, so I’m hoping to continue that.”

Why should she win Drag Race UK season three?

There’s no doubt that Veronica Green is going to be a fierce competitor on Drag Race UK season three. On why she deserves that crown, she says: “I’ve proved I’m a heavy weight competitor. I already have one RuPeter badge! I was supposed to win Drag Race UK season two, and if you don’t crown me this time Ru, I’m going to come back again. Another variant of Veronica Green…”
