Everything you need to know about the new season of Married at First Sight UK
It starts a week after Love Island ends and I am ready
Married at First Sight UK is finally coming back, but this time things are a little different and the new season is said to be the most “raunchy and explosive yet”. I cannot wait.
The show is going through a major shakeup to follow the Australian format. There’s going to be more couples with 16 contestants taking part in the show, including the first same sex relationship ever on Married at First Sight.
The cast includes a firefighter, an influencer and a rugby player. There will be three experts helping out the newlyweds along their marital journey and the good news is the show is less than two weeks away.
This is everything you need to know about the new season of Married at First Sight UK:
In previous years the Channel 4 show followed three or four couples getting legally married without ever having met and following their journey in their honeymoons and moving in periods before deciding if they’re going to stay together.
However this season the producers are looking to spice things up and will be adopting the Australian format of the show, which as all fans will know causes some very chaotic moments.
Couples will still be matched up by experts and never meeting before saying “I do”. However unlike in other seasons this time round the couples will not be getting legally married, instead they’ll be having a lifetime commitment ceremony led by a wedding celebrant.
The other big change for this year is that the couples will meet up each week to have dinner parties just like the Australian version. Each time they’ll decide if they want to stay together or break up. This season will have 21 episodes each 90 minutes long.
For the first time this year’s lineup will feature a gay married couple, meaning there will be nine male contestants and seven female.
The cast features people from a variety of backgrounds and locations. The youngest contestant is 25 years old and the eldest is 47 years old. Amongst the cast there is an estate agent, two personal trainers and a vet.
Guiding the couples will be three relationship experts Paul C Brunson, Mel Schilling and Charlene Douglas.
Regular E4 viewers will recognise Paul from Celebs Go Dating as one of the two dating experts on the show.
Psychologist and dating expert Mel is joining the show from the Australian version which she has been working on since 2016. Mel was subject to a number of death threats during season six of the Aussie version and nearly 70,000 people signed a petition for her to be removed from the show after she called out the language of one of the male contestants.
The final expert joining the show is Charlene who is a sex and relationship therapist based in London.

Married at First Sight UK will start on E4 on 30th August at 9pm with the synopsis of the show promising the first episode will feature the stag and hen dos of the cast.
The official synopsis reads: “Before these strangers walk down the aisle, they get to celebrate their final night of freedom together at the ultimate stag and hen parties – where a surprise is in store.”
The series hasn’t even started and yet there have already been rumours of a spin-off series. A source said to The Sun Channel 4 bosses were impressed with what they had seen of the series and have given the go ahead for a follow up series to see what the contestants are up to now after the show has finished filming.
They said: “The cast has been approached and everyone is really excited about letting their future fans know how they are getting on. The spin-off will air this autumn after the full series has been broadcast.
“Now that C4 bosses have seen the edits [of the main show], they have already green-lit a glossy follow-up because even they want to know what has happened since.”
Excited is an understatement.
