Meet Callum Scott Howells, the 21-year-old Welsh grad who stars as Colin in It’s A Sin

His Insta’s worth a follow purely for the pics of his puppy tbh

Move over Harry Styles because I am now in love with one man and one man only, and his name is Colin. Seriously, I think we need to form some kind of Colin support group, because I cannot stop thinking about that beautiful character from It’s A Sin. The man behind Colin is Callum Scott Howells, a 21-year-old recent grad from (where else?) Wales.

Colin, who Callum Scott Howells plays, is a young gay man who moves from Wales to London to become a Savile Row tailor. Here he meets Ritchie, Lydia, Ash and Roscoe, and It’s A Sin follows the group of friends living in London and discovering their sexuality, all amid a backdrop of the 1980s AIDS crisis. The series has been called “necessary and urgent viewing” and is so important to watch, but one of the main parts of It’s A Sin everyone is loving is Colin himself.

Here’s everything you need to know about Callum Scott Howells, the man behind Colin in It’s A Sin:

He’s 21 and graduated last summer

Before playing Colin, Callum Scott Howells was a student at Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, in Cardiff. He only graduated last summer, meaning he filmed It’s A Sin whilst finishing up his degree.

Like everyone else in 2020, Callum had to make do with a homemade, lowkey graduation.

Callum also celebrated his 21st birthday in lockdown, last April.

And here he is outside The Woody in Cardiff in 2018. On Insta he captioned this pic saying it was his “first ever pub crawl” 🥺

Callum has a dog called Dewi

Callum first posted about Dewi the cockapoo when he got him as a puppy in April last year, and Dewi has been a firm feature on Callum’s Insta ever since.

Callum Scott Howells, obviously, plays Colin in It’s A Sin

Callum plays everyone’s favourite Pink Palace resident, Colin Morris-Jones. A young gay man from Wales, Colin moves to London with dreams of becoming a Savile Row tailor. In the first episode he discovers his sexuality with the help of his friend and mentor Henry, who’s played by How I Met Your Mother legend Neil Patrick Harris.

Callum has told PinkNews he identifies as queer, and It’s A Sin’s creator Russell T Davies has been vocal about making sure gay actors play gay roles in the series, which Callum’s said is “something to be celebrated in this show”.

He’s best mates with the rest of the It’s A Sin cast. They’ve said whilst filming they all used to dance to 80s music every morning in their trailers.

Before It’s A Sin, Callum was in several plays

Colin may be Callum’s first major role, but he’s been in loads of things in the theatre before, including in Oliver, Lord Of The Flies, and several National Music Youth Theatre shows.

He’s also been cast as Romeo in Romeo and Julie (based on Romeo and Juliet), but the production has been postponed due to coronavirus.

Everyone loves Colin (and Callum, obvs), so here are some It’s A Sin tweets just about him:
