Stranger Things’ Noah Schnapp denies singing the n-word, using ‘neighbour’ instead

#noahschnappisoverparty was trending worldwide

Noah Schnapp, the star of Netflix’s Stranger Things, has denied using a racial slur in a resurfaced video.

Singing along to Chris Brown and Lil Dicky’s song Freaky Friday, the 15-year-old claims that he used the word “neighbour” instead of the n-word.

The video quickly became viral and started gaining traction on Twitter, where the hashtag #noahschnappisoverparty soon began trending worldwide.

In an apology posted on his Instagram, he said: “I should have kept my mouth shut. I genuinely have never used that word in my life. Using the word ‘neighbour’ in that song was just something my camp friends and I did.

“I hope you all understand I could never even think about doing that. My friends also would never post a video, or support me, if I was saying a slur without hesitation.”

He continued that he acknowledges that even using a “replacement” word was not his “place” to use: “I apologise for using a replacement word. It is not my place to use one and I should have kept my mouth shut.

“I understand why it is found offensive and I am so sorry.”

Schnapp was recently hacked along with a number of other Twitter users, causing racial slurs to be tweeted on his account. He has since regained control of the account.
