This guy is paying celebs to post fake ads which say he’s going on Love Island

‘Oh my god good luck!! #ad’

A lot of us would like the fame that comes from going on a show like Love Island. Once your name is out there as a rumoured cast member the Instagram followers come flooding in. But one guy has taken this to the next level and appears to be paying celebrities to post on their Instagram and say he’s a rumoured cast member.

Reality TV stars such as Chloe from Geordie Shore, Stephen Bear and Kady from season two of Love Island have all posted about him being on the next summer series. When actually, “Reggie Trades” just wants people to click through to his Instagram profile and be taken in by his trading business.

Chloe posted a screenshot of a Daily Mail article which appears to confirm Reggy as a Love Island contestant. It was captioned: “Can’t believe Reggy Trades is going on Love Island”. She also posted the screenshot as a post, captioned: “@reggy.trades confirmed to be in the line up of the hit show Love Island 2020, can’t believe he is going on the show, this will be interesting, follow and support him @reggy.trades, good luck hun #ad”. Although #ad usually means a paid for post, what’s not clear is whether the celebrities were lied to about whether the information was genuine.

The Daily Mail article does not exist, and no cast members have been 100 per cent confirmed yet. The fakery has caused an online backlash. One of the comments on Chloe’s post says: “Lmao this girl will do anything for money won’t she”.

Love Island season two star, Kady McDermott, also shared the fake screenshot on her Instagram story. Her caption was suspiciously as identical as Chloe’s, reading: “@reggy.trades confirmed to be in the line up of the hit show Love Island 2020, give him a follow @reggy.trades #ad”.  Kady posted the exact same photo and caption to her feed as well.

It was shared too by Steven Bear, who surprise! Gave it the same caption. He said: “@reggy.trades confirmed to be in the line up of the hit show Love Island 2020, follow my boy and support him @reggy.trades.”

This is beyond weird now.

The Tab has contacted Reggy for comment, but at time of publishing he had read messages but not replied. Reps for Chloe, Kady and Steven also did not respond to requests for comment.
