New details emerge about tragic death of Dog the Bounty Hunter’s grandson, killed by his dad
First responders were unable to save Anthony
New details have emerged about the death of the step grandson of reality star, Dog the Bounty Hunter. Yesterday, it was revealed the 13-year-old had been shot and killed by his own father. Duane Chapman, known as Dog the Bounty Hunter, issued a statement confirming his step-grandson was killed by his father in a tragic accident.
His son, Gregory Zecca, killed his 13-year-old son in what’s been described as a “freak accident” at their apartment in Naples, Florida. The accidental shooting happened at around 8pm local time on Saturday (19th July) and law enforcement have confirmed no arrests have been made at the moment.
It’s since been reported Gregory Zecca has been “placed on psychiatric hold” as a result of his feelings of grief and guilt following the incident. Police called it an “isolated incident” and the family issued a statement about what happened.
“We are grieving as a family over this incomprehensible tragic accident and would ask for continued prayers as we grieve the loss of our beloved grandson, Anthony,” reps told TMZ.
At the time, not many details about the death were revealed, but since then more have been shared. It’s been revealed officials arrived on the scene to find the 13-year-old with a gunshot wound to his neck. No exit wound was located. A police report has stated when sheriff office deputies arrived Anthony had already lost “large amounts of blood.”
First responders gave him CPR and other life-saving measures, including chest compressions, but were unable to save Anthony. He was pronounced dead at 10.21pm.
A gun was located in the kitchen of the home. Gregory Zecca is reported to have been found with an empty holster in his waistband. The investigation into what happened continues.
“Our detectives are conducting a thorough investigation looking into all the elements of this tragic incident,” a police statement said. “The investigation includes statements from witnesses who were at the scene, forensic testing, subpoenas, and search warrants.”
