Why Ciara Murphy isn’t really the villain of Love Is Blind UK season three

Love Is Blind UK viewers seem to have unanimously decided Ciara Murphy is season three’s villain. But, come on, is she *really* that devilish? Here are three overly considered reasons why Ciara Murphy isn’t really the villain of Love Is Blind UK. I’ll convince you, I swear.

Love Is Blind is only 11 episodes long, people

I’ve heard people complain about Ciara and money far more than I’ve actually heard Ciara talk about money. Yes, she does keep mentioning “nice things” on Love Is Blind. But remember, the cast spend about 10 days is those pods.

If we see Ciara talk about finances multiple times, that doesn’t necessarily mean Ciara talks about finances *all* the time. It could be because everything else she said on those dates was boring, or very similar to other couples’ chats. Like, would you rather hear 12 people tell each other their birthdays and favourite colours and things?! I’d advise judging the things reality TV contestants say more than the frequency we see them say it x

I doubt she’s being that deep

Now, in my experience, reality TV participants who were 1,000 per cent serious about everything we see on the show will still be 1,000 per cent serious about it once the show airs (and blame “the edit”). I reckon that if Ciara genuinely expected her husband to buy her a five-bedroom house in south-west London, she’d be posting 300-word long Instagram stories about what she requires each bedroom for. 

Instead, she joked about the “£15,000 date” and “£300 minimum spend” comments during the speeches at Netflix’s Love Is Blind: Cast Dinner event. And when an interviewer asked her and Jack about being “the villains”, she laughed that “somebody has to do it”. Ciara said: “You know, it is a TV show. There are going to be archetypes in the cast, and I think we filled a specific space.”

Since the first 10 episodes of Love Is Blind arrived on Netflix, Ciara has insisted she wasn’t trying to “meddle” or “stir the pot”. Apparently, she’s just exceptionally dedicated to unveiling mankind’s deceitful behaviour. According to Ciara, it had become the norm for women to “compare notes” on Jack, so her chats with Faye weren’t out of the blue.

If you do still reckon Ciara was “stirring the pot”, who are we to judge? Can reality TV viewers, who obviously love getting to the bottom of relationship drama, really look down on a reality TV participant for trying to get to the bottom of relationship drama?

Ciara wasn’t actually rude or nasty to anybody. She provided a public service by livening up what would have otherwise been a very dull episode. Be grateful you didn’t have to watch a solid hour of couples sitting by a pool and telling each other how happy they are.
