‘Not My King’: Anti-royalist protesters attend the King’s Lancaster visit

Protesters with placards could be seen during the King’s first visit to Lancaster since 1993

During King Charles’ visit to Lancaster Castle, supporters of the King were met with anti-monarchy protesters throughout the day.

On the King’s first visit since he was crowned King in 2023, he was met by hundreds of supporters at Lancaster Castle waiting to catch a glimpse of the recently crowned king.

Amongst the large crowd of supporters, placards reading claims such as “not my king” and “ditch the duchies” could be seen.

Individual protesters were also holding a megaphone in order to start chants amongst the other protesters. In response to this, many supporters of the King could be heard chanting “God Save The King” which was met by applause by a large majority of the crowd.

By 1:30pm, which was around the time that the King exited the Castle, a black minivan had parked in front of the protesters allegedly in order to block them out. As a result, an individual protester, who was holding up a sign, could be seen hitting the van in hopes the van would move.

The Royal Communications Team were contacted for comment, but The Lancaster Tab received no response.
