Apparently Ozempic teeth is a thing now?
Weight loss transformations are still doing the rounds, with dramatic celebrity transformations fuelling the Ozempic rumours among societies A-Listers.
It’s not just Ozempic that’s grown in popularity. However with it being unavailable for purchase in the UK, it’s Mounjaro that people in the UK are going crazy over, whether it’s by adults who have type two diabetes, or as a weight loss drug.
We’ve seen big results from usage of both Ozempic and Mounjaro in managing health and wellbeing, but the effects upon stopping the drug are less widely known. Here’s a look at what happens to your body after you stop taking Ozempic.
‘Ozempic face’

One of the most widely spoken about side effects upon stopping the medication is something called “Ozempic face”, which basically means skin sagging around the face. Skin retracts after coming off the medication and the user’s face will look slimmer than before Ozempic, but can sag and look aged after treatment. Some people refer to it looking “hollow” or “gaunt”.
This is said to change over time, but has been given its own nickname due to the recognisable change many users find. A lot of people have shown the before and after of their face transformations on TikTok.
Ozempic teeth?!
Some people noticed dental changes, including decaying teeth, bad breath and gum disease
Apparently the medicine can reudce the amount of saliva produced, which can lead to people feeling dry mouths. It can also reportedly reduce the mouth’s natural ability to clean the teeth.
Weight regain
Most Read
A lot of people don’t realise, but weight regain is a common occurrence after being on Ozempic or Mounjaro, especially if the drug is stopped suddenly. The body’s metabolism may slow down and hunger hormones might become more active once the drug is stopped, and weight regain is often a result of the return of appetite and increased food intake.
Blood sugar fluctuations

Ozempic helps control blood sugar levels by stimulating insulin production and slowing down digestion. So stopping the medication can result in the return of levated blood sugar levels, potentially worsening symptoms of diabetes.
Other health benefits improved by the drug, such as cholesterol levels, may also worsen once they’re no longer being treated.
Other considerations
After being on either Mounjaro or Ozempic, the body becomes used to a certain amount of food. So a bigger appetite might result in stomach pain or nausea whilst it gets used to a new amount of food.
