New plans to replace popular Sheffield nightclub announced
Hazy Club hopes to honor the legacy of its predecessor
A once-popular venue in Sheffield is set for a major comeback, with a brand new club opening with the aim of reviving the city’s nightlife scene.
The venue, formerly known as CODE, is undergoing extensive renovations and will reopen under new management later this year as Hazy Club.
Matt Watson, the nightclub’s new manager, hopes the rebrand will bring something new to Sheffield’s student nightlife.
“The city needs something a bit different,” he told The Sheffield Tab. “We’re looking to create a safe, inclusive and upbeat environment – and to bring a fresh energy to Sheffield.”
Hazy Club is hoping to “treat students well” with discounted entry prices and a student-focused night every Wednesday. They are also looking to target societies from both universities and to get involved with the upcoming Fresher’s Week.
CODE, located on Eyre Street, was a staple of student nights before closing its doors in 2022. The venue had become known for its club nights, drinks offers and central location.
Watson says Hazy Club will honour that legacy, while introducing a completely new look and upbeat atmosphere.
“Lots of changes are being made to the venue,” he added. “We’ve ripped out the bar and everything on the ground floor, starting fresh.”
The club will feature a new circular bar, with prices to be similar to that of clubs on West Street.
Whilst an official opening date is yet to be announced, renovations are well underway and anticipation is growing ahead of the its launch later this year.
