There is only one episode of The White Lotus season three left, and one of the actresses has just shut down a viral theory about the finale.

In the first episode, we saw a shooting take place, and people are convinced that it isn’t going to be a human who is holding the gun.

A wild theory is circling the internet that a monkey grabbed the weapon and started shooting around the luxury Koh Samui hotel. Yes, a monkey!

It sounds ridiculous that a monkey could be the killer, but the theory hasn’t just been plucked out of thin air.

There’s loads of strange monkey symbolism in the opening credits and throughout the series, and viewers think it can’t just be a coincidence.

However, Michelle Monaghan, who plays Jaclyn Lemon in season three of The White Lotus, has sadly shut down the amusing theory once and for all.

During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live last week, she said: “You know, I’ve just got to debunk a theory out here.”

“Guys, the monkeys did not do it! People have gone ape s*** thinking that,” she continued.

“I was hoping it was the monkeys. Those monkeys got a hold of that gun and started firing. That would be fantastic!” Kimmel replied.

Damn, I was really hoping it was a monkey who pulled the trigger too. That would have made for a great storyline.

In the opening scene, the spa manager Belinda’s son Zion is having a meditation session when he hears a gunshot.

He goes to look for his mother and finds a body floating past him in the koi pond, and we still don’t know who the killer is.

Hotel worker Valentin, Timothy Ratliff and even Gaitok are all potential suspects too. We’ll have to wait and see!
