Lincoln Festival of History set to return for a second year
This follows its successful debut last year
From the castle and the cathedral up Steep Hill, down to the university’s Grand Central Warehouse library, and countless Roman ruins, Lincoln is already quite historical. However, over the May bank holiday weekend, Lincoln will travel back in time to pivotal moments in its history.
Events such as re-enactments will be taking place all over the city centre in Castle Square, Lincoln Cathedral and the Cornhill Quarter.
From Saturday 3rd May until Monday 5th May, you can pick up a sword in St George’s Knight School or an axe in the Viking Mint. Or, for those less keen on charging into battle, take a stroll around the Roman Market in Castle Square where you can experience Lincoln how the Romans knew it, as Lindum Colonia. Taste Roman treats and see live demonstrations of Roman crafts such as carpentry and black-smithing.
There will also be a Classic Car Show in City Square with a chance to ask the automobile’s owners about the history of their vehicles.
All events will take place throughout the weekend between 11am and 5pm so come out and experience Lincoln’s history first hand.
