Hold on, are Universal Studios and Disneyland on fire in LA?

It’s now been three days and the Los Angeles wildfires continue to rip through multiple different neighborhoods.

Firefighters are doing everything they can, but are still unable to stop fires in the Palisades, Eaton, Kenneth, Hurst, and Lidia.

Many became worried as pictures of the Hollywood sign on fire began circling, but what about Universal and Disneyland? Are they on fire?

Thankfully not. Universal Studios announced that it was closed on Wednesday (January 8) and Thursday (January 9) “as a result of the extreme winds and fire conditions”.

There was thick smoke in the area, but the attraction has reopened today (January 10) as the nearby fires threatening the park have now been contained.

“Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal CityWalk will be open on Friday, January 10 and will resume regular operating hours,” a statement on their website says.

The Sunset Fire broke out in the Hollywood Hills, not far from Universal Studios, but was announced to be 100 percent contained as of Thursday evening.

As for Disneyland, the theme park is actually located in Anaheim, around 25 miles southeast of Los Angeles city centre.

That means it has not been affected by the wildfires and Disneyland has not announced any closures at all due to the blaze.

Both Disneyland parks remain open as of Friday, but Walt Disney Studios, located in Burbank, California, has temporarily closed as a safety measure.

Disney CEO Bob Iger expressed his condolences, saying: “My heart goes out to everyone who has lost homes and businesses, and to all those whose lives have been impacted, including thousands of Disney employees.”
