All the wild Twitter theories that the Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson fight was scripted

There’s a new conspiracy every minute

The Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson fight that took place in Texas last Friday has already sparked rumours on Twitter that it was scripted. The 27 year old former Disney Channel star Jake Paul emerged victorious against retired professional boxer Mike Tyson, and people are already starting to pick at absolutely everything to try and find proof that it was staged. While there’s no concrete evidence of this, it hasn’t stopped conspiracists on Twitter trying to prove their theories true. Here are some of the wildest speculations people have been making about the Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson fight being scripted.

Bets were banned across the US

People have questioned that several US states banned betting on Friday night’s fight. Though the fight was professionally sanctioned, Jake and Mike fought in eight two-minute rounds instead of the regular three-minute rounds. They were also wearing 14oz gloves rather than the standard 10oz born by heavyweight boxers which apparently was cause for seven states to ban gambling on the fight. The New York State Gaming Commission said the “non-traditional rules” meant the match wasn’t eligible for betting.

Allegations of ‘fixing’ have been made by former and current boxers

Former world champion boxer Carl Froch made the claim that there was “something in the contract” that would prevent Mike Tyson from “even trying to hurt Paul.”

He claimed there was no way Mike would ever win and told GB News he thought it was a scripted fight that would only last three or four rounds. This ended up being false anyway as the boxers lasted their full eight rounds.

“Jake Paul will definitely win; Tyson might start well but then he’ll fall over. Paul can’t lose. It’s in the contract, he can’t lose. He is a useless w****r,” he said.

Additionally, Sara Bailey, the women’s WBA world light flyweight champion claimed to ES News: “Yeah, it was fixed, I’m sorry.”

People think they’ve noticed a moment where Jake ‘signals’ to Mike to take it easy on him

People on X claimed they found a moment in the Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson fight that proved it was staged. A huge fan theory has been circulating online that Jake signalled to Mike to take it easy on him during the fight.

In the said clip, Mike Tyson landed a chin shot on Jake, and he reacted to the punch by sticking out his tongue and taunting Mike back like the punch didn’t bother him. It’s a bit of a signature move that Jake has done in previous fights, and even outside of the boxing ring. Likely, it was just Jake doing his move for the cameras, but it hasn’t stopped people from speculating online.

Jake wore different gloves that may have made a ‘huge difference’ to the fight

Former professional boxer Tony Bellew accused Jake Paul of breaking a huge rule in his fight with Mike Tyson that could have changed the outcome. Tony accused Jake of wearing “full on punchers gloves” in the fight.

On Twitter, he wrote: “The gloves Mike has on are looking heavily padded while Jake has on grants which are full on punchers gloves. There is a huge difference in the gloves and I’m only watching from a bed.”

Punchers gloves have softer leather and less padding around the knuckles, meaning you can literally feel the boxer’s knuckles come through.

A script Twitter users claim is real leaked ahead of the fight

A suspicious document was circulating on Twitter ahead of the fight which people used to add to the theory the fight was staged. A user on X posted a photo of a document which they said was an official script from the fight.

The document seems very sketchy and was posted by an anonymous X account with 204 followers. It’s unfounded and unsupported but people have been using it to add fuel to their existing conspiracy theories.

It seems most people are in agreement that “anyone can type up something like this and circulate it.”

Mike Tyson’s former coach questioned the legitimacy of the fight

Mike Tyson’s former coach Teddy Atlas also shared his concerns about whether the fight with Jake Paul was scripted or not. He told The Sun: “My only question … is it real? Maybe it is, I would hope it is. But is there going to be an honest effort to do what is always looking to be done, to go and destroy that guy, to knock him out?”

Jake admitted he didn’t want to ‘hurt’ Tyson despite originally planning to ‘knock him out’

At the post-fight press conference, Jake claimed he was worried about “hurting” Mike during the fight.

Jake explained he “wanted to give the fans a show,” but “didn’t want to hurt someone that didn’t need to be hurt.”
