Staying warm and looking hot: A guide to Edinburgh Uni’s current fashion trends
Hopefully these chic looks will provide some winter fashion inspo
With a new year brings new fashion trends and new clothes to spend your maintenance loan on. We’ve brought you a summary of all the trends seen on campus this January – with the cold and storms this past week the main themes we spotted were staying warm and dry (but still fashionable).
Layers and layers
Winter is still very much here in Edinburgh and that means lots of layering to battle the cold. More importantly functional layers – so that after running to your 9am you don’t just have to sit and sweat. We’ve seen students layering up baby tees and vests with a high neck jumper, topped up with the classic north face puffer, along with scarfs and gloves to finish it off. Perfect way to look cute when its chilly.
Winter accessories
As we all know, bundling up warm is essential at the minute and we’ve seen students using scarfs and hats as the perfect accessories to their fits. A brightly coloured scarf can add the perfect pop of colour in these gloomy months.
Red
Red is carrying on as the “It Girl” colour at the moment and she’s still as hot as ever (even if the weather isn’t). We’ve been seeing loads of pops of red everywhere around campus – on shoes, scarves, bags, and we love it.
Workwear jackets
Boys we haven’t forgotten about you! The trendiest men on campus have been seen sporting a collection of different workwear jackets and when partnered with a knitted jumper you might just be somebody’s new library crush (or Matchmaking Monday).

Distressed denim
Think of distressed denim as denim’s cooler older brother. We are loving the beaten up dirty wash jeans and especially when paired with some cool trainers, these jeans make a perfect relaxed uni fit.
Overall, the fits on campus this week have been trendy and (more importantly) warm. We can be hot and look hot at the same time, while we all patiently wait for summer.
