Echoes hit by fire as roof explodes into flames

Four fire crews rushed to the scene

Four fire crews were called out to a fire at Echos nightclub in town last night.

The emergency services rushed to the scene just after 10.30pm after a witness reported smoke and flames coming from the roof of the building.

Two Loughborough crews were initially sent to the scene, but reinforcements from Birstall and Shepshed were requested.

A command support vehicle was also present.

A fire service spokesman said the fire started in a roof void.

Firefighters left the scene at 12.30am, but it’s too early to say the cause or the extent of the damage.

This is not the first fire to hit the nightclub.

In April 2014, Echos suffered a similar fire in its roof space, which was again dealt with by the fire departments.
