We asked Lufbra students when they were last groped in a club

It happens too often

The majority of people who we spoke to didn’t want to be recognised because of the sensitivity of the topic. But out of nearly 50 people interviewed, only a handful had never experienced this sort of thing happening on a night out.

Here were some of their responses:

Jamie, International Business, fresher

“It happened to my girlfriend when she came to visit a few weeks ago. She was walking down some stairs and a guy grabbed her crotch”

Mollie, Sport Technology, fresher

“Not since coming to Loughborough, but back in Manchester it happens a lot.”

Rosie, Psychology, finalist

“At Halloween, I was pulled away from my friend by my mask. Was scary because the stranger grabbed me from behind and the mask pressed into my neck.”

Toby, Banking, Finance and Marketing, second Year

“Hard to say, never really noticed a specific touch.”

Amanda, Sport Technology, fresher

“In Zante, you couldn’t walk into a club without it happening.”

John, Sport Science, finalist

“Haven’t really experienced it much, the main thing is hearing a lot of vulgar language.”

Hannah, Social Psychology, fresher

” Probably the last time I went out, which was on Saturday.”

Katherine, Business, fresher

” Quite a while ago, like two weeks. Some people treat girls as objects. It’s not okay, and it’s often not very drunk people.”
